Membership

Interested in joining the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tampa . . .

Pathways to Membership:  choose one, two, or all three.

First Option:
Sign up for a UU 101 class (Adult Religious Education), a series of two classes. Learn basic UU history and how the church works. 

Second Option:
Sign up for a Building Your Own Theology class.  Reach back into you past for your theological beliefs and learn basic vocabulary to discuss theological ideas and analyze your own ideas in relation to those.

Third Option:
Make an hour-long appointment with Rev. Sara Zimmerman to discuss Unitarian Universalism. 

In addition:
Sign the Membership Book (signature witnessed by a UUCT member) and make a financial pledge.  These actions demonstrate your commitment to this church.

The responsibilities of membership:

  • Attend church regularly
  • Work on your own spiritual development
  • Serve on a task group
  • Pledge at a stewardship level
  • Be involved in service to others
  • Connect to the wider UU movement


Our Unitarian Universalist Principles

We the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote

  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

  • To strengthen our church community while following our spiritual paths,

  • We communicate with one another in kindness and support,
  • We promote the safety and well being of the congregation,
  • We practice the democratic process,
  • We support this church with our money and time, 
  • We make our contributions with compassion and commitment,
  • We work together to build a joyful community that affirms peace, justice and spiritual fulfillment,
  • We hold ourselves and each other responsible for adhering to this covenant.
