UU DOME: Tues Feb 14, 2012. 8pm. AUDREY AULD, SAM BAKER, GURF MORLIX. A TRIPLE BILL! $15 advance. $20 door.

Per The Irish Times: Sam Baker is one of the biggest underground Americana names of recent years. His debut album gained much critical acclaim, largely by word-of-mouth. Within days of its release in Europe, his ‘Pretty World’ album was sitting at the Number 1 slot on the Euro Americana Chart... You don’t really need to know that Sam Baker suffered a near-death experience at the hands of Peruvian terrorists to appreciate the finely chiseled, struggle-to-survive poetry of his songs, although it may help. (Sam lives in Austin) www.sambakermusic.com
Per The Austin Chronicle: Although Gurf Morlix didn't release an album of his own until 2000, his influence as an acclaimed producer and musician informs some of Americana's most important statements... he produced Lucinda Williams' critically acclaimed eponymous album ‘Sweet Old World.’ {He } produced work by ... Robert Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves, and Butch Hancock, while also recording and playing guitar with Warren Zevon, Ian McLagan, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Miller, to name but a few... Morlix showcased his own songwriting with country-blues debut ‘Toad of Titicaca’ on Catamount. The label also released... ‘Fishin' in the Mudd’ before Morlix signed to Houston imprint Blue Corn Records. (Gurf lives in Austin) www.gurfmorlix.com
