Popcorn and Opinions
Juno on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the apartment of Heather Roy. Juno, winner of the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, is about a pregnant teenage girl who gives her baby up for adoption to a seemingly perfect couple. The movie will start around 7pm, but come a little early with snacks or
drinks to share, and be prepared for a discussion about a very funny, yet very sweet, movie. For information or directions, please email Heather at stalkingcat@gmail.com.
Everyone is invited and please bring your friends as well.
SMALL GROUP MINISTRY GROUPS
Evensong
Attachment Parenting Group
Attachment Parenting is a parenting philosophy that believes a strong emotional bond with parents during childhood is a precursor of secure, empathic relationships in adulthood. This group is intended mostly for interested parents of newborns to tweens.
Some of the practices of attached parents are breastfeeding; babywearing; bedding close to baby, family bed; quickly meeting baby’s/children’s needs; gentle, positive discipline; organic foods; delayed, selective or no vaccinations; homeopathy; cloth diapers; and homeschooling, unschooling. If you are interested in joining this group, contact Susan Williams at virgo.vegan@gmail.com, or at 813 436-1679.
Genealogy Covenant Group
We will explore our family histories with a focus on the meaning we attribute to our ancestors and how they affect our lives today. Genealogy may be defined as the development of people and society through history. Genealogists study the
relations of individuals in families and reasons why the families were important. For example, how do the religious beliefs or practices of our ancestors impact us? Please join us as we study our family histories to discover new insights
about ourselves. If you are interested in joining this group, call Tempie Taudte at 813 931-1817 or email ttaudte@yahoo.com.
Internet Café
Come explore the internet with Bud Clough and Grantford Wilson who are seeking companions to share an hour or two each week, afternoon or evening, at Martha Robinson’s house, investigating what’s really available to the general public in the way of timely and expert opinions on the issues of
the day. We hope to establish a Small Group Ministry dedicated to excellence in its quest to improve our understanding of the modern, material, social and spiritual environments we find ourselves in. We intend to begin by utilizing the
resources of TED, Renascence 2.0, and EDGE. We then plan to modify our approach to meet the needs and desires of the group. If you are interested in joining this group, give your contact information to Bud.
Journey
“Wherever you are is the entry point,” Kabir wrote in the 15th century. Let’s meet in covenant group to create a safe, supportive place to explore, deepen, and expand our creative imaginations. All levels, beginning through advanced
visual, performing and literary artists are welcome. We will utilize a variety of interactive exercises and meditations to focus our attention on the creative process as a spiritual practice. If you are interested or have questions, call Robin Leigh at 813 571-1366 or email leigh520jr@yahoo.com.
Women’s Spirituality Small Group Ministry
In our busy everyday lives as women, daughters, wives and mothers, we often don’t have time to rest, reflect, contemplate, and nourish our spirituality. In this group we will use the book, Dance of the Spirit, The Seven Steps of Women’s
Spirituality by Maria Harris. Through her guidance, we will follow seven steps that “lead the way to a rich inner world of mystery, power, and promise that women must enter in order to achieve a true awareness of her own identity.” If
you are interested in joining this group, contact Pat Benedict at 813 968-1418, or email her at pntb3781@aol.com.
Meditation and Inquisitive Dialogue
We practice meditation together, followed by a dialogue discussion, characterized by deep listening to both others and your own self. Facilitated by Felice Richardson at 813-786-3351 or email her at gambifFL@aol.com.
