Conversations with the Board March 7: Celebrating Women’s Empowerment Tomorrow, March 8, is International Women's Day. The idea of an International Women's Day first arose at the turn of the century when the industrialized world was in a period of
expansion and turbulence, booming population growth and radical ideologies. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. Rev. Dr. Sara Zimmerman will be joined by members of the congregation in presenting a Unitarian Universalist perspective. March 14: The
Necessity for Ruins How do we connect ourselves in place and time to individuals and events that went before us? Often we find the legacy of our past within our midst, but we fail to notice, or to bring its
meaning into our daily lives. In today’s service, Russell Kirby invites us to contemplate the spiritual value of ‘ruins’, both figuratively and literally, in the physical and mental landscapes where we spend our time. Russell Kirby is a lifetime UU who has belonged over the years to congregations in Illinois, Wisconsin, Arkansas and Alabama before moving to Tampa in 2008 and becoming a member of UUCT. He is a professor of public health at USF.
In today’s sermon he will reflect on some of the themes linking the perspectives of cultural and landscape geography to the ways we experience natural and built environments in our daily live March 21: What are You Worried About? This multigenerational service will explore every day worries with humor, stories, and
pagan wisdom, as we mark the Spring Equinox. Service leaders: Katie Culbert, Director of Religious Education for Children and Youth, and Rev. Dr. Sara Zimmerman. March 28: Jesus’ Teachings of Justice and Compassion Today is Palm Sunday. Rev. Dr. Sara Zimmerman will reflect on the meaning of Jesus’ teachings in his parables and the Beatitudes in the context of the Second Principle of Unitarian
Universalism: “We affirm and promote justice, equity and compassion in human relations.”
